Keeping your stock healthy
Everyone wants their plants and gardens to stay healthy and happy, and so do we. The best gardening practices include starting with healthy stock, fertilizing, proper watering, maintaining insect control, disinfecting your tools, and removing plants with obvious signs of viruses. Please contact us before removing any plants for assistance.
The American Dahlia Society recommends 3 different basic methods for disinfecting your tools.
• Dipping your tools in a 10% solution of household bleach mixed with water. This will eliminate the virus.
• Virkon S is a disinfectant that may be used on your tools and is commonly used by veterinarian clinic applications to kill viruses. Follow the manufacturer's directions to disinfect your tools properly.
• Rinse the tools in bleach and then dip them in a soap solution of 4 teaspoons of Dawn dishwashing detergent and 5 cups of water. This avoids the harmful effects bleach can have on tools.
