WOWIE

Not a very good bloomer for me. Do not use for cut flowers b/c they have a horrible vase life. Leave for the bees to enjoy instead of cutting. Didn't produce many tubers.

I have been meaning to write a review since last summer. As another reviewer mentioned, this dahlia looks fake, and everyone who sees it says the same thing. It is beyond comprehension! Bright red, white inner petals, yellow center, sharp contrasts. No other dahlia even begins to look like Wowie. It is unique. I will never be without Wowie. It is a show stopper! What a grower, too. It is on the shorter side, 3.5 feet, so I am moving it to the front of my my dahlia garden. I have 3 collarettes and bees flock to them. Not unusual to see 3 bees in the center of each bloom. You have to grow it to believe it!

Grew slowly with only a few short-lived blooms that pointed down. Will try again next year.

My dahlia garden has a lot of beautiful pastels. To add some striking color, I planted Wowie this year. It seems almost fake it is so vibrant red with the contrasting white petals. And so different, it pops in my garden, and is a true eye catcher. As I have routinely heard from visitors looking at my other collarette Bumble Rumble, they ask "is this a dahlia? This is amazing"! It grows well and produces a lot of blooms. It is a really fun dahlia out there. And the bees love it, too. It feels good to see so many bees.

I planted my dahlias a tad late, on June 1st this year. Wowie had it's first bloom only 60 days later! It has continued to bloom continuously since. The flowers are so vibrant and beautiful, it's hard to believe. The blooms don't last as long as some other dahlia plants in my yard, but I'm guessing that's an attribute of the collarette style in general.
