Dahlias are grown from tubers (similar to a bulb, but thin-skinned like a potato). Plant tubers in the springtime, about the same time as you would your vegetable gardens or when the ground is warm enough to work up and play in daily. Plant them in a full sun location (giving them 6-8 hours of direct sunlight) and enjoy blooms all summer long. They will bloom and provide you with color and abundant flowers for cutting and enjoying throughout the summer.
The more you cut a dahlia plant, the more it will bloom. Most cut dahlias will last up to 5 days once cut and treated.

This is a favorite in my bouquets this year. Lovely dark burgundy with velvety petals. This plant struggled a bit in the heat of the summer- needed some shade cloth for protection in Arizona zone 6b. Will definitely grow again.

Absolutely gorgeous! Bloomed early July in 5B and hasn’t stopped putting out new blooms since! Looks like velvet in a vase- stunning !

My Voodoo Was Cursed
Planted in a long line of other dahlias that now tower over it because it only grew about 6" and then stopped. It's alive, but doing nothing. No new leaves. No buds. I dug up the tuber and it looks/feels fine. But it's September 1 and this thing is DONE. I plan to give it another try next year, but I was disappointed with its performance.

I’ll never be without in my garden.
I bought this after 2 failed attempts at RIP City from another vendor. I can’t explain to you how superior of a bloom this is. Spectacular with Nigella for a modern twist on a hand tied bouquet or in an amber glass container, it is STUNNING. This is NOT your grandma’s dahlia. Would look beautiful with pinks and fern for a lovely bohemian wedding flower????

Striking dark beauty
