How to Grow

Dahlias are grown from tubers (similar to a bulb, but thin-skinned like a potato). Plant tubers in the springtime, about the same time as you would your vegetable gardens or when the ground is warm enough to work up and play in daily. Plant them in a full sun location (giving them 6-8 hours of direct sunlight) and enjoy blooms all summer long. They will bloom and provide you with color and abundant flowers for cutting and enjoying throughout the summer.
The more you cut a dahlia plant, the more it will bloom. Most cut dahlias will last up to 5 days once cut and treated.

Stunning, glowing flower on thin but very sturdy stems, long enough to add to bouquets! My most prolific bloomer!!!

Love love love this one

I had to say sayonara to this one after I mistakenly killed it! :( Gorgeous dahlia that does not take up a lot of space. Gorgeous flowers with lovely dark foliage. Buying another one this year

Gorgeous early and prolific bloomer

This dainty waterlily is one of the first to bloom and then cranks out a steady mass of blooms all season long into late fall. I love the early bloomers because I am so anxious to see my garden get going! The contrast between the dark foliage and hot pink flowers is stunning.

Done trying

Have tried several tubers with the same result: few, short-lived blooms. Time to move on.

Makes a beautiful border

I love the dark foliage with the bright flowers. For the last five years I've planted four Sayonara in a row for a dramatic border in my front yard. The plant is short enough that I don't stake them although I lose a branch here and there. Easy to deadhead and divide. If I could change one thing, it would be that the outermost petals were a solid fuchsia color and wouldn't have a lighter whitish edge. However, it is not noticeable from a distance. Occasionally I get a pure white or part white and part fuchsia flower which makes me smile.

Gorgeous

Sayonara is a beautiful dahlia. A prolific and early bloomer. The dark foliage and the magenta flowers really pop in the garden.

A petite beauty

I love the warm glow of this deep pink flower against the purple-green leaves! It is a joy to behold. The only reason I gave it 4 stars rather than 5 is because it is too petite for cut flowers, and I am particularly enjoying the dahlias that can be cut for the house. But it is a great choice for the garden and is nice for a spot without much space, so I highly recommend it for that. It also is healthy and low maintenance and was a relatively early bloomer.
