How to Grow
Dahlias are grown from tubers (similar to a bulb, but thin-skinned like a potato). Plant tubers in the springtime, about the same time as you would your vegetable gardens or when the ground is warm enough to work up and play in daily. Plant them in a full sun location (giving them 6-8 hours of direct sunlight) and enjoy blooms all summer long. They will bloom and provide you with color and abundant flowers for cutting and enjoying throughout the summer.
The more you cut a dahlia plant, the more it will bloom. Most cut dahlias will last up to 5 days once cut and treated.

Gorgeous blooms! And so many!
"Ditto" to all the previous outstanding comments submitted about Mai Tai. For me, any dahlia that includes the color yellow will rank high on my list of favorites! This one tops them all!
I got Mai Tai as part of the Fall into Dahlias collection, but needed to come review it separately. The pictures do not do this flower justice. It's simply gorgeous and produced huge, stunning blooms. I've had a tough year for flowers in NY and this particular dahlia is an absolute stand out.
SHe is a real eye catcher. So beautiful in every bouquest and stands proud in the yard!
My favorite new-to-me variety this year! Stunning orangey-golden yellow blooms outlined in burgundy looks amazing paired with deep burgundy reds like Black Satin or Hollyhill Black Beauty, oranges like Andrew Charles, and purples like Diva. Every bloom is a work of art.
This plant was massive in height, girth and prolific blooms that are electric! Started blooming July in Minnesota, and kept on growing and producing like nobody's business! An absolute gem!
Attention grabbing 4" bloom on a very bushy 4-5' plant. Great cut flower. Top 3 in my garden among 10 different varieties. Later bloomer than my other mid-season varieties but once it did, oh my gosh!
Mai Tai is a new favorite. Beautiful, sturdy blooms with a nice vase life. I'm getting tons of compliments on this one!
Out of the 40 ish new tubers I planted this spring, Mai Tai was the biggest shocker. It quickly grew to about 5’ tall and is just as big in spread. The blooms are prolific. I’m able to cut 5 or more per day from one plant, and they’re large and healthy. They continue to open well in a vase. Next to Gitts Crazy and Fire Magic, this is my biggest plant. She needs room to spread! Absolutely gorgeous, and I hope to plant several more next spring. I had blooms by early July here in the Pacific Northwest.
Mai Tai is the star this year! The first to bloom, loads of blooms. It is even out performing Gitt's Crazy and that is saying something. Stems are strong and the blooms last. I have to say this one is by far the best value for me in 2023. Fantastic!
Second year growing this dahlia. It is gorgeous! I have 28 different varieties of dahlias and this is my second favorite. Diva is my first. Loads of very large blooms on incredibly long, strong stems making it an excellent cut flower. Lasts long in the vase. Plant is tall - 8 feet for me in zone 5. Produced moderate amnt of tubers. Will always have a place in my cut flower garden.
Not sure what happened with this plant this year, but it really didn't perform the way I expected. She's definitely gorgeous once in bloom, but I got very few stems off her. Never enough to make anything with, so she was often enjoyed in my home instead of going out to customers. Will hope for better production next year.
Mai tai outperformed all my dahlias. The plant is huge, bushy with tons of gorgeous flowers. She produced so many tubers and they held well over winter for replanting. I have so many i can even give some away. The flowers are a gorgeous peach with a hint of burgundy, great for fall and everyday arranging and she produces a ton of them. Surprised there isn't more reviews for her.
Stunning flowers, late bloomer
I just loved this dahlia. It was great as a cut flower, with a decent vase life. I loved that the colors worked all season. Will grow again!
My first time growing dahlias this year and I went with the cut flower collection. This one was by far my favorite with blooms all season, great color and great as a cut flower. Hopefully harvesting the tubers goes well and I will get to enjoy for seasons to come.
