How to Grow

Dahlias are grown from tubers (similar to a bulb, but thin-skinned like a potato). Plant tubers in the springtime, about the same time as you would your vegetable gardens or when the ground is warm enough to work up and play in daily. Plant them in a full sun location (giving them 6-8 hours of direct sunlight) and enjoy blooms all summer long. They will bloom and provide you with color and abundant flowers for cutting and enjoying throughout the summer.
The more you cut a dahlia plant, the more it will bloom. Most cut dahlias will last up to 5 days once cut and treated.

Tuber struggled

The tuber for Nicolas I received this year has yet to bloom (planted around mother's day) it's struggled and almost died from tuber rot due to over watering. It is still alive, but the plant is small there are buds we shall see if it flowers this year. Looking forward to trying again next year!

Garden favorite

I planted this dahlia three years ago and do not dig it up in winter in NE Portland, OR. It blooms like crazy, though blooms are only about 4" for me. I wish I could attach a pic to show how as the petals open, they are yellow and then turn peachy bronze which means they are often peachy with a fully yellow center as it opens. A real stunner.

Beautiful Blooms and Foliage

I absolutely love the blooms on Nicholas; such a beautiful shape and so many different colors! Though every bloom has peach/orange, red and yellow, it is also not uncommon for me to find subtle stripes of a lavenderish color on a random petal or two. I also find the leaves to be a particularly pleasant shade of green, which gives the whole plant a very healthy, vigorous look. My one complaint would be that sometimes the blooms like to hide under the foliage more than on the average dahlia plant.

Beautiful

What a terrific dahlia! Covered in really unique blooms starting very early in the season. A strong grower with very healthy full foliage. Stems aren’t particularly long, but beautiful in the garden!

Spectacular, exquisite, long-lasting blooms

Each flower is like a sculpture, serene as a lotus blossom. The deep crimson interior contrasts wonderfully with the soft peach. I could just stand and look at these! Great sturdy plant that keeps blooming.

Stunning indeed!

I'm in love with this one. The big, exquisite flowers are perfection and seem to last forever on the plant, nearly as long in a vase. A single flower is all you need in a small vase. Perfection.

Gorgeous peachy gradient

Gorgeous variety with peach on ends and raspberry streaks near center upon first opening. Bloomed earlier here in NY than some of the other 90 day varieties. Huge, strong stem thick as a pole. Buying another for next year.
