Dahlias are grown from tubers (similar to a bulb, but thin-skinned like a potato). Plant tubers in the springtime, about the same time as you would your vegetable gardens or when the ground is warm enough to work up and play in daily. Plant them in a full sun location (giving them 6-8 hours of direct sunlight) and enjoy blooms all summer long. They will bloom and provide you with color and abundant flowers for cutting and enjoying throughout the summer.
The more you cut a dahlia plant, the more it will bloom. Most cut dahlias will last up to 5 days once cut and treated.

Beautiful blooms! On my plant each bloom is different, most have more purple than white, but I've only had one solid purple in two seasons of growing, and some have more white than purple. It's fun to see the unique design of each bloom and I often find myself stopping longer to admire this plant than most others in my garden. They are in my top 5 of the 60ish dahlia varieties I've grown.

A must have.
I've had this dahlia for 2 years and it's one of my favorites. My variety has a very dark wine colored base with pure white tips on every petal. Very interesting to look at, a great blend of opposing colors.
