How to Grow

Dahlias are grown from tubers (similar to a bulb, but thin-skinned like a potato). Plant tubers in the springtime, about the same time as you would your vegetable gardens or when the ground is warm enough to work up and play in daily. Plant them in a full sun location (giving them 6-8 hours of direct sunlight) and enjoy blooms all summer long. They will bloom and provide you with color and abundant flowers for cutting and enjoying throughout the summer.
The more you cut a dahlia plant, the more it will bloom. Most cut dahlias will last up to 5 days once cut and treated.

Bliss looks nothing like your photos as of 9/9/25

the Bliss tubers I bought from you looks nothing like I saw in the 24/25 catalog last Fall. I'm in Colorado and it's only had 2 small blooms separated by a few weeks apart. I'm in Aurora, CO. Not the mountains. It's hot here.

These Look Nothing Like the Photos

I wanted to wait a while before posting about these because sometimes the first round or two of blooms can be misleading, but I'm baffled by this dahlia. The flowers look NOTHING like the photos. The blooms are small -- around 2.5" -- and the petals are thin and spindly. All the centers are open, exposing a yellow middle that browns really quickly. They look like daisies more than dahlias. Definitely not something I'd have chosen and they're not invited back to my garden next year!
