Dahlias are grown from tubers (similar to a bulb, but thin-skinned like a potato). Plant tubers in the springtime, about the same time as you would your vegetable gardens or when the ground is warm enough to work up and play in daily. Plant them in a full sun location (giving them 6-8 hours of direct sunlight) and enjoy blooms all summer long. They will bloom and provide you with color and abundant flowers for cutting and enjoying throughout the summer.
The more you cut a dahlia plant, the more it will bloom. Most cut dahlias will last up to 5 days once cut and treated.

Gorgeous 10” pink blossoms blend to a white center. Very strong plant growing to 4'. This beauty was awarded the 2016 Derrill W. Hart Award by the American Dahlia Society for its outstanding blooms. In some weather conditions, this pink may show a lavender tone to the blossoms.
The plant is reasonably vigorous, has beautiful flowers and is not bothered by powdery mildew. It's a great cut flower. The yield is somewhat low for me but I'll definitely keep it for the next year for foliage alone. There are dozens of pink varieties on the market but it's the only one with such a cool leaves

Beautiful lavender pink
First year with this dahlia. I thought I had pinched the main stem, but evidently not. I started it inside and it took a while to sprout, but now it is my second one to bloom already (first week of August). Beautiful lavender pink flower with a hint of yellow. This is very pleasing and at such a great price. I took a picture but don't see how to attach it.
