How to Grow
Dahlias are grown from tubers (similar to a bulb, but thin-skinned like a potato). Plant tubers in the springtime, about the same time as you would your vegetable gardens or when the ground is warm enough to work up and play in daily. Plant them in a full sun location (giving them 6-8 hours of direct sunlight) and enjoy blooms all summer long. They will bloom and provide you with color and abundant flowers for cutting and enjoying throughout the summer.
The more you cut a dahlia plant, the more it will bloom. Most cut dahlias will last up to 5 days once cut and treated.

A small yet visually punchy sweetheart, with good stem length, lasted a LONG TIME in the vase, my family couldn't pick enough of these delights. Given terrible growing conditions, because I was recovering, both tubers created "unstoppable" blooms. The neglected plants planted in a too-shady area, were very spindly (my fault) 2026 I plan to put all Razz-ma-tazz tubers in a patch together, with horizontal netting, so they can support each other. Major winner for us.
cute little blooms, bright pink outlining yellow petals, mine only gave 2 flowers the whole season. bugs got to it. :-(
The colors were very pretty but overall this one didn't really impress me.
Pros: it was one of the first to bloom and it bloomed prolifically all season.
Cons: the blooms didn't last long and when they started to fade, they were really ugly, so I felt like I was constantly dead heading it to keep it looking its best.
The verdict: I won't be ordering this one again.
As a side note, I do think a better name for this one would have been "raspberry lemonade." That's how I would describe the colors.
Vigorous for me at 7200 ft / 4b at best , Wonderful color and lasts well
This is such a prolific bloomer - bright and cheerful with skinny but stiff stems for arrangements. It looks great with all colors - especially the darker purples that are beautiful but need something bright with them in a vase. Mine grew to nearly 5' tall. Bloomed early and was loaded with blooms and buds when frost came. I'll plant next year's in a similar location for picking and will try another spot in the rose garden where it'll get less water and maybe stay shorter.
LOVED this early bloomer, who kept pumping out the stems each week. I'm finding it more versatile as we are getting into the fall season, but I'm also finding it to become more spindly, and less upright heads as the season goes on. Needs good support and corralling.
I ordered a new tuber for 2022 to replace the one that didn't come up in 2021. Well I had saved the labeled spot and surprise surprise the new one and the old one both have sprouted. Love these little sparklers. The new one is a completely different locale. Our weather in 2022 has hit 100s and is now back to the mid 80s.
The first year it was full or blooms 5' tall and numerous blooms, just like the picture online. I pulled all my tubers out to over winter in 2020 to rearrange them in the garden and they didn't come up this year in 2021. I love these little 2-3" blooms and purchased new tubers for 2022.
Tons of cute little blooms. First few had no yellow, then the yellow came out down near the center of the petals. Much darker and more red than photo.
I love this one! I was unsure about a smaller bloom size, as I love the large guys, but this one is gorgeous! Warm sunset gradient, tons and tons of blooms, healthy plant, long stems... buying another for next year.
This flower has such brilliant colors it almost looks neon or like it would glow in the dark. I love the shape and size of the blossom and the foliage is a nice green. One of my favorites of 2020.
