How to Grow
Dahlias are grown from tubers (similar to a bulb, but thin-skinned like a potato). Plant tubers in the springtime, about the same time as you would your vegetable gardens or when the ground is warm enough to work up and play in daily. Plant them in a full sun location (giving them 6-8 hours of direct sunlight) and enjoy blooms all summer long. They will bloom and provide you with color and abundant flowers for cutting and enjoying throughout the summer.
The more you cut a dahlia plant, the more it will bloom. Most cut dahlias will last up to 5 days once cut and treated.

I planted 4 types of Dahlias and this one is my favorite. Absolutely breath taking in person and so many blooms!

I received this tuber in June and planted it right away. 1 bloom appeared in mid august then nothing. Later in mid September I started seeing multiple buds and the bloom has been non stop. Love the form, vase life is excellent and waiting to dig out the tubers in November. I live in zone 10b. I will update the review once I dig up the tubers to see if they have good tuber production.

I received a tuber in the spring of 2023, it did not bloom! In the summer of 2024, it bloomed! It turned out to be a yellow variety with a viral disease. I threw everything out

This was my second season with Daddy's Girl and she never disappoints! She starts out more white and gains her pink color as the season goes on. I am zone 8a and she bloomed in July for me after keeping the tubers in the ground over winter. Stems are long and great for cut flowers. She does seem to attract more thrips, but can be managed if treated early.

My 1st tuber stored over the winter and gave my 5 new plants. The color is such a sweet soft pink. The blooms were nonstop. If my storage method keeps working I will just keep growing more of them.

Why do I love this dahlia, let me count the ways:
1.) First dahlia in my garden to bloom -- mid-August in Zone 7
2.) Large, sturdy blooms and every single one is perfect
3.) Long stems are ideal for cut arrangements
4.) These last SO LONG once cut! I can get almost a week out of them. Amazing.
5.) Bushy plant is over 4' tall and required only one stake with ties (I pinched off terminal bud)
6.) Color is soft, romantic, and gorgeous

stored washed tubers in dry peatmoss in open buckets in basement 45 degrees through the 21-22 winter.
Many came back, about five per plant clump, a high rate for me.

I love, love , love this flower. Unfortunately, due to "some help", these tubers did not make it through the winter. I am scouring everywhere to replace her. I will be in line for next season for sure!

I grew this new dahlia this summer, in a bed that borders a sidewalk. Daddy's Girl was by far the bloom most-admired by passersby, and she was my own favorite, too. The plant has strong upright stems that are good for cutting, and it was generously covered in blooms from midsummer until frost. The flowers are just as pretty as their pictures show! Just lovely!
