Dahlias are grown from tubers (similar to a bulb, but thin-skinned like a potato). Plant tubers in the springtime, about the same time as you would your vegetable gardens or when the ground is warm enough to work up and play in daily. Plant them in a full sun location (giving them 6-8 hours of direct sunlight) and enjoy blooms all summer long. They will bloom and provide you with color and abundant flowers for cutting and enjoying throughout the summer.
The more you cut a dahlia plant, the more it will bloom. Most cut dahlias will last up to 5 days once cut and treated.

The bees love this thing. First dahlia tuber to bloom for me this year, was blooming by early July. Easy one to grow!
With very little to no rain this year, K. Dwarf flowered until the first hard frost. Always pollinators enjoying the nectar. Yes, one must deadhead, but worth the weekly visit to admire KD's ability to flourish.
Small plant with very cute single flowers. Grew in a 12" pot, was slow to get going, will start earlier in '22. Like a long stem dahlia in miniature with 6" wiry stems, striking flowers like photo.
I love this happy dahlia! The color is lavenderish which really pops with yellow center. It bloomed a little later than my other dwarf dahlias, but it is my favorite! ordering more for next year!
