Dahlias are grown from tubers (similar to a bulb, but thin-skinned like a potato). Plant tubers in the springtime, about the same time as you would your vegetable gardens or when the ground is warm enough to work up and play in daily. Plant them in a full sun location (giving them 6-8 hours of direct sunlight) and enjoy blooms all summer long. They will bloom and provide you with color and abundant flowers for cutting and enjoying throughout the summer.
The more you cut a dahlia plant, the more it will bloom. Most cut dahlias will last up to 5 days once cut and treated.

The color is exactly as the photos display, but mine did not curl at all (which is fine, but this photo is misleading). What drew me to this bloom is the unique structure (the curl), so I can't give it high marks for quality. For only one tuber, the price is steep. I have two blooms this year so far (late August) when other dahlias from other purveyors are thriving, full in foliage and abundant in blooms and buds. All were potted at the same time indoors in late March and planted out in mid-June. I hope the tuber puts forth a few more for storing and potting up next year.
One of the first to kick off this summer and the blooms have been non-stop! A really fun producer.
This is an early and prolific bloomer. The colors and shape are gorgeous and look exactly like the photos. And the blooms last at least one week each so I had flowers for almost 2 months on this tuber and I was able to grow it in a pot without any trouble. Absolutely beautiful.
beautiful color, healthy plant, prolific bloomer, great cut flowers. They do not curl like the photo but I like it almost better this way. I think it is a fantastic flower as it is.
I love the colors of this dahlia and it’s a healthy and prolific bloomer but I bought two of them last year and they were expensive and so far I’ve had about a dozen blooms on each of my plants and none of them have curled petals like the photos show. I’m hoping it will start to curl still but a little disappointed so far that it doesn’t look like I expected.
