Dahlias are grown from tubers (similar to a bulb, but thin-skinned like a potato). Plant tubers in the springtime, about the same time as you would your vegetable gardens or when the ground is warm enough to work up and play in daily. Plant them in a full sun location (giving them 6-8 hours of direct sunlight) and enjoy blooms all summer long. They will bloom and provide you with color and abundant flowers for cutting and enjoying throughout the summer.
The more you cut a dahlia plant, the more it will bloom. Most cut dahlias will last up to 5 days once cut and treated.

These are my absolute favorite Dahlias! They’re white, about 2.75-3.5 inches in size, and prolific! I love the open airy feeling of them in arrangements and the shape adds a uniqueness to the garden. I purchased two in my initial order, dug them up and was over joyed to see how the tubers had multiplied. Loved them so much purchased a few more the following year. I ended up having so many tubers I didn’t have the storage to over winter them and so began sharing them with neighbors. Sadly, I lost nearly all my tubers this year due to neglect on my part. I was recovering from a concussion and wasn’t able to tend to them. Doing better now and starting again!
This was one of my most prolific plants and also quite long-lasting compared to my other open-centered dahlias. Flowers were beautiful and dainty and added a lovely airiness and sparkle to arrangements. I lost the tubers in storage this year and was so sad. Even though it's painful to pay shipping for a single tuber, I'm ordering it again this year because Make A Wish is worth it!
The plant was small, the flowers were few and greenish. I am not digging it up this fall.
