12" blooms blend from yellow in the center of the bloom, to orange and red at the tips of the petals. A sport of El Sol, it shares the same growth habit with a plant of 4 1/2'. Nice color, great garden plant.

Dahlias are grown from tubers (similar to a bulb, but thin-skinned like a potato). Plant tubers in the springtime, about the same time as you would your vegetable gardens or when the ground is warm enough to work up and play in daily. Plant them in a full sun location (giving them 6-8 hours of direct sunlight) and enjoy blooms all summer long. They will bloom and provide you with color and abundant flowers for cutting and enjoying throughout the summer.
The more you cut a dahlia plant, the more it will bloom. Most cut dahlias will last up to 5 days once cut and treated.

Super disappointed, such a gorgeous dahlia. All of my other dahlias have come up, many have already bloomed, but this one never appeared. So today I dug it up and it had rotted, partially hollow with unpleasant goop inside.
Such a stand out! Beautiful rich color.
Bought Mercury as an after thought. Wish I could add my picture! SI pic doesnt do it justice. Its absolutly stunning and has a really long vase life. Darker on the outside and yellower center.
You can picture the planet, hot and colorful.
Stalk was about 6'+ in height, and it's still bloomin' strong!!
