How to Grow

Dahlias are grown from tubers (similar to a bulb, but thin-skinned like a potato). Plant tubers in the springtime, about the same time as you would your vegetable gardens or when the ground is warm enough to work up and play in daily. Plant them in a full sun location (giving them 6-8 hours of direct sunlight) and enjoy blooms all summer long. They will bloom and provide you with color and abundant flowers for cutting and enjoying throughout the summer.
The more you cut a dahlia plant, the more it will bloom. Most cut dahlias will last up to 5 days once cut and treated.

Good Color and many blooms, BUT

At first I would say it is a good dahlia but one of the main issue is the petals fell off on the plant and as I cut them. It was disappointing but I am willing to give it an other run and reorder but will change how I fertilize this particular Dahlia. Perhaps it needs part shade, I'll see and report again. All my dahlias grow full sun I have to say that Swan Dahlia is the best in the market with tubers

Unlucky?

Perhaps I just got an unlucky tuber with bad genetics, but Vixen did not do well in my garden where many other dahlias flourished. The color was great, but all my blooms had open centers. Even more disappointing, the petals fell off very easily. Twice so many petals fell off the bloom while I was trying to arrange a bouquet, that it was hardly worth leaving in the arrangement by the end, though these were not old blooms. I tried to give it a second year in case it improved, but never got any blooms the second season.

Best red Bloom good red Color

OMG I love Vixen, Love it. I didn't think much of it but when it started to bloom it "Sort of speak" Blew me away. it was a superb addition to my bouquets

Deep red, perfect shape

I placed this one in my tomato patch and it flourished! The bees love it so I had the best tomatoes this year. The flowers are a deep red and the shape is perfect. It grew tall instead of bushy. The blooms, while not highly prolific, last for over a week and are still going after 2 months. Just gorgeous. Hoping for extra tubers this year.

Great deep red dahlia

After seeing the color and size, the Vixen dahlia is very close to a red rose shape in floral designs. Plans are to increase the number of these in my dahlia production garden.
