How to Grow
Dahlias are grown from tubers (similar to a bulb, but thin-skinned like a potato). Plant tubers in the springtime, about the same time as you would your vegetable gardens or when the ground is warm enough to work up and play in daily. Plant them in a full sun location (giving them 6-8 hours of direct sunlight) and enjoy blooms all summer long. They will bloom and provide you with color and abundant flowers for cutting and enjoying throughout the summer.
The more you cut a dahlia plant, the more it will bloom. Most cut dahlias will last up to 5 days once cut and treated.

Heather I wanted so much to love this one. The stems are thin and weak, the flowers are only lasting 1-2 days on the plant. I haven’t even tried to cut them they are pretty when they first bloom, but it’s a tiny plant and there’s not a lot of blooms.

JEANNE a free selection a few years ago that bloomed enthusiastically; plant was 4+ft; not a showstopper but did grow and bloom well

nickname1 Bought several. Like the flower, but the plants were quite short, less than 2' tall and the stems on the flowers were thin and weak. surrounded by other dahlias that were doing very well.
