Dahlias are grown from tubers (similar to a bulb, but thin-skinned like a potato). Plant tubers in the springtime, about the same time as you would your vegetable gardens or when the ground is warm enough to work up and play in daily. Plant them in a full sun location (giving them 6-8 hours of direct sunlight) and enjoy blooms all summer long. They will bloom and provide you with color and abundant flowers for cutting and enjoying throughout the summer.
The more you cut a dahlia plant, the more it will bloom. Most cut dahlias will last up to 5 days once cut and treated.

Very slow to grow for me. Not sure if it will even bloom this year. A little disappointing. Will keep it in and see what happens next year. But if you want a prolific plant, this one might not be it.
I loved using this when I got the blooms, but this plant seemed to struggle this year. Planted in full sun along with other stunning dahlias in coastal 9b, I just didn't get the production out of this plant that I expected. Lasted well beyond 5 days as a cut flower, I'll give it another chance next year, and consider beefing up the bone and feather meal to see if I can get more stems out of this plant.
This dahlia was the best thing that happened on our flower farm in 2020! Gorgeous color and form. It was a customer favorite.
