Dahlias are grown from tubers (similar to a bulb, but thin-skinned like a potato). Plant tubers in the springtime, about the same time as you would your vegetable gardens or when the ground is warm enough to work up and play in daily. Plant them in a full sun location (giving them 6-8 hours of direct sunlight) and enjoy blooms all summer long. They will bloom and provide you with color and abundant flowers for cutting and enjoying throughout the summer.
The more you cut a dahlia plant, the more it will bloom. Most cut dahlias will last up to 5 days once cut and treated.

Lovely plant
It has taken 4 months for Double Trouble to get its first blossom. Our average 1st frost in WI is in 2 weeks :( But the blossom is beautiful!
Grown in full sun, zone 5 so short growing season. I grow several dozen plants of 8-10 varieties each year. Extremely prolific bloomer, 3" flower. Bees love them. 4' plant. 2-3 days in the vase before petals drop. Attention grabbing flower. Early in the season more red. Late in the season more pink. I have grown 5 years now. In my top 3. Prolific tuber producer.
Lots of pretty flowers from this plant. They bloom quickly & are a unique look in the box.
Very pretty large blooms. The bees love this flower. Not great as a cut flower as it seems to wilt quickly but stunning in the garden.
