Dahlias are grown from tubers (similar to a bulb, but thin-skinned like a potato). Plant tubers in the springtime, about the same time as you would your vegetable gardens or when the ground is warm enough to work up and play in daily. Plant them in a full sun location (giving them 6-8 hours of direct sunlight) and enjoy blooms all summer long. They will bloom and provide you with color and abundant flowers for cutting and enjoying throughout the summer.
The more you cut a dahlia plant, the more it will bloom. Most cut dahlias will last up to 5 days once cut and treated.

I got Bee Hive by accident; it out performed the other tubers I purchased. I cut flowers daily - copper-colored here in the east. The tubers were giant at the end of the season but only one made it to the 2025 season.
I purchased three of these tubers last year and all have done well and have been producing lovely, consistent blooms. The color is really interesting as it changes tones depending on what you arrange it with. It goes more orange when with true oranges and yellows but reads as more of a peach when paired with pinks and whites. Excited to see how many tubers I get at the end of the season.
I’m very pleased with all the tubers I ordered this year. All of them are doing amazing but Bee Hive is a show stopper. It’s thriving.! It has been non-stop for about 2 weeks now and shows zero indication of slowing down. Very healthy plant top to bottom. Flowers are stunning. They have this very natural, refined tone that just blends so well. Wish I could post pics to give it the justice it deserves.
