Dahlias are grown from tubers (similar to a bulb, but thin-skinned like a potato). Plant tubers in the springtime, about the same time as you would your vegetable gardens or when the ground is warm enough to work up and play in daily. Plant them in a full sun location (giving them 6-8 hours of direct sunlight) and enjoy blooms all summer long. They will bloom and provide you with color and abundant flowers for cutting and enjoying throughout the summer.
The more you cut a dahlia plant, the more it will bloom. Most cut dahlias will last up to 5 days once cut and treated.

I almost didn't recognize the blooms as Cabana Banana when they started. Very colourful, and very similar to Clearview Jonas (with just a little more yellow). Pleasantly surprised, but marked the value down just for people looking for flowers that are more of the true banana yellow.
Personally, I think it is very unusual and pretty!
The multi tone bloom is very eye catching. Foliage is full giving a nice contrast. 4' tall, 5" blooms in my garden. Only drawback is flowers are big but on a stem that can't support them in a strong wind or a downpour. Stems tend to bend or break when that happens.
I was very much looking forward to this dahlia but sadly it never sprouted.
