How to Grow
Dahlias are grown from tubers (similar to a bulb, but thin-skinned like a potato). Plant tubers in the springtime, about the same time as you would your vegetable gardens or when the ground is warm enough to work up and play in daily. Plant them in a full sun location (giving them 6-8 hours of direct sunlight) and enjoy blooms all summer long. They will bloom and provide you with color and abundant flowers for cutting and enjoying throughout the summer.
The more you cut a dahlia plant, the more it will bloom. Most cut dahlias will last up to 5 days once cut and treated.

I am a first time dahlia grower and I picked this one because of the great reviews and it did not disappoint. I even grew it in a planter and it is absolutely fantastic. Many blooms, strong stems and just so elegant and pretty!
I've grown Sun Kissed for 4 seasons. Growing conditions in the summer of 2025 in New Jersey were extremely difficult. That being said, Sun Kissed pulled through and grew just as it has during previous years. This is definitely a stalwart dahlia. It usually is one of my first varieties of dahlias to bloom and continues until a killing frost. During the heat of summer, the color is a bit lighter than pictured but as the temperatures start to decrease, the yellow becomes more prominent. LOVE this dahlia!
This was one of my favorites in my garden last year out of 200 dahlias varieties. Mine were a beautiful soft yellow zone 7
Beautiful soft yellow, large round flower with long sturdy stems and good vase life. Pairs with nearly everything and pops in the garden. Was my first to bloom and is still going in late September! Zone 9b
This was the earliest bloomer in my dahlia garden this year, and for that, it's first in my heart! Sun Kissed is a bright, cheerful yellow flower. I put it next to Little Scottie, a yellow ball dahlia, and they look great together.
It also pairs well in a vase with a more complicated looking dahlia like Chilson's Pride!
The star in the patch this year. Big, full, healthy plant nearly 5ft. tall with a heavy crop of long lasting flowers. There's flowers on there that have out-lived neighboring plants by a week and more. I might not have purchased this in its own, it came in a mix, but you should definitely put this in your cart.
Right now.
Vigorous plant and good cut flower producer, but the flowers are a very pale pastel yellow, not bright at all. Sometimes this is preffered for arrangements and I will continue to grow her,, but I'm still looking for a bright yellow dahlia. Also produced a lot of tubers and held well over winter.
I would not necessarily have picked this one for myself but it came in a collection and is taking all the glory in my dahlia bed in 2022. First, the plant is strong, multi branched and full. The plant alone is handsome, and then it makes SO. MANY. BLOOMS. I am thrilled with this one and would buy again.
A good addition to any dahlia garden. A large bright yellow flower with a sturdy stem for cutting.
