Dahlias are grown from tubers (similar to a bulb, but thin-skinned like a potato). Plant tubers in the springtime, about the same time as you would your vegetable gardens or when the ground is warm enough to work up and play in daily. Plant them in a full sun location (giving them 6-8 hours of direct sunlight) and enjoy blooms all summer long. They will bloom and provide you with color and abundant flowers for cutting and enjoying throughout the summer.
The more you cut a dahlia plant, the more it will bloom. Most cut dahlias will last up to 5 days once cut and treated.

The other 4 tubers I got at the same time produced healthy plants, but both of these Taboo tubers rotted. I will try again next year, or I may get a similar color in another variety.
The purple just glows! Not a ton of flowers, but it was planted close with others. Mid season bloomer here in Ohio. I will grow it again, as it blends well with warm and cool colors in the garden.
I planted this 3 years ago and have had no problem with it coming back. Just hardly any flowers. The few I have gotten were beautiful though.
I know I had this last year. And it was beautiful, but I don’t remembering it having yellow at the base of the petals. Trying to identify a mystery flower.
