How to Grow

Dahlias are grown from tubers (similar to a bulb, but thin-skinned like a potato). Plant tubers in the springtime, about the same time as you would your vegetable gardens or when the ground is warm enough to work up and play in daily. Plant them in a full sun location (giving them 6-8 hours of direct sunlight) and enjoy blooms all summer long. They will bloom and provide you with color and abundant flowers for cutting and enjoying throughout the summer.
The more you cut a dahlia plant, the more it will bloom. Most cut dahlias will last up to 5 days once cut and treated.

Planted Lemon Tart this year. It was a bit of later bloomer, but WOW ... so pretty. The color is gorgeous. This one is a new favorite!

Surprised by reviews

We have had Lemon Tart dahlias for several years and have grown them in the ground and in planters and pots. Rather than being early or 5”, they have been late and maybe 3”. A nice color, yes. But few and far between. One plant produced a single bloom this year. Maybe these are simply “tired” tubers, but we do not plan to save them this winter. We have been growing dahlias from Swan Island tubers for years and have nothing but good things to say about the 40-50 varieties we have planted but Lemon Tart is the only one generating a negative review.

Planted them all at the same time, under the same conditions, and only 1 sprouted. Very disappointed

Tart, Tangy, Totally Electric!

They weren't kidding when they recommended sunglasses for viewing this one. These yellow blooms are BRIGHT! It was not the first to bloom as I expected, but it did bloom early and reliably all season. Nice strong short plant, and no stakes needed. I won't be growing this again as the color was a bit too powerful for me, but if you love yellow, don't miss this one.

Stunning Yellow

Such a stunning yellow dahlia. One of the first to bloom in my dahlia beds. It is taller than described. It also isn't growing compact as described but this is the first year for this tuber. I'll have to see how it grows next year and update. I can't wait to divide and have a few more blooming in my yard.

Sunshine on a stem!

Lovely blooms the first year grown, true to cactus shape and size.I have in a container on my patio and it is thriving with about ten blooms open this October weekend. The bees love it and it will be even stronger next year.

Not really a semi-cactus for me

This one did not bloom as a semi-cactus for me, more of a regular shape. Hoping some later flowers will get more pointy petals.

great cut flowers for me

The earliest dahlia I have and loaded with flowers. Mine has consistently produced great stems for cutting so I've enjoyed them inside the house as well as outside in the garden.
