Dahlias are grown from tubers (similar to a bulb, but thin-skinned like a potato). Plant tubers in the springtime, about the same time as you would your vegetable gardens or when the ground is warm enough to work up and play in daily. Plant them in a full sun location (giving them 6-8 hours of direct sunlight) and enjoy blooms all summer long. They will bloom and provide you with color and abundant flowers for cutting and enjoying throughout the summer.
The more you cut a dahlia plant, the more it will bloom. Most cut dahlias will last up to 5 days once cut and treated.

I purchased this a couple years ago before the "rebuild." Price was more reasonable then. Even so, this is not one of my favorites, although I loved the picture. Mine don't look very similar to it. As they get very mature, the orange comes out more, but it is really just before the flower fades. Mine is not a good performer and doesn't have a lot of flowers. Not keeping this one for next year. Garden space is too valuable.

Stunning all season
I planted Candlelight last year in a not so sunny spot(whoops) and honestly it didnt do very well- no blooms at all. I wondered if the tuber would survive winter in the garage. Nevertheless, this year I tried again and planted in a perfect dahlia spot- and it grew, grew and grew! This year it is my absolute favorite! Plentiful and abundant blooms with crazy long stems. It was an early bloomer with the color changing through out the season- being quite pale(with slight color variation) during hot July/Aug and color intensifying as the weather cooled into September/October. I have found blooms to be more pink and yellow than orange. i feel the photos in the catalog don't quite capture the color correctly, but it is absolutely beautiful.
