Dahlias are grown from tubers (similar to a bulb, but thin-skinned like a potato). Plant tubers in the springtime, about the same time as you would your vegetable gardens or when the ground is warm enough to work up and play in daily. Bees’ paradise
This was my husband’s favorite dahlia this year. The colors are vibrant and happy, and it grows to a nice compact size that requires minimal staking and tying. The bees LOVED these flowers and were regularly snuggled up on the big pillowy centers. I grow them near my patio for a beautiful pop of color.

Fascinating , colorful Bashful
Mesmerizing blend of colors; forthright blooms; great cut flowers; floriferous plants. Fun to plant near hot pink Aster Alma Potschke (which I Chelsea Chop so that their blooms can mingle). in the years when I haven't planted Bashful I miss it. At the end of the season as it gets cold, bees cradle themselves in the center where they happily pass away.
