Dahlias are grown from tubers (similar to a bulb, but thin-skinned like a potato). Plant tubers in the springtime, about the same time as you would your vegetable gardens or when the ground is warm enough to work up and play in daily. Plant them in a full sun location (giving them 6-8 hours of direct sunlight) and enjoy blooms all summer long. They will bloom and provide you with color and abundant flowers for cutting and enjoying throughout the summer.
The more you cut a dahlia plant, the more it will bloom. Most cut dahlias will last up to 5 days once cut and treated.

I love Molly Ann! The show stopping form and color of red are always a thrill. This is larger flowered than many waterlilies, the flowers are consistently about 5-6" for me with a beautiful form - less and wider petals. In the past I have had trouble having it make good tubers. this year there was a bumper crop! Then the freeze did a ton of damage in my unheated storage unit and I lost most of my dahlias. A few may have survived; hoping Molly Ann is one of them. If not, i will be back buying this from Swan Island. It grows about 5 feet tall in my garden with narrow plant habit. Its flowering has not been profuse; I mostly have it to look at because I can't bear to cut any of them!
