Dahlias are grown from tubers (similar to a bulb, but thin-skinned like a potato). Plant tubers in the springtime, about the same time as you would your vegetable gardens or when the ground is warm enough to work up and play in daily. Plant them in a full sun location (giving them 6-8 hours of direct sunlight) and enjoy blooms all summer long. They will bloom and provide you with color and abundant flowers for cutting and enjoying throughout the summer.

I bought 2 tubers with the idea of planting these along the edge of my flower bed. The grew well and produced tons of blossoms. Then the added bonus, when I dug them up in the fall, those two plants produced over 20 tubers! The blossoms are not huge, but that’s what I expected. Overall I was pleased.

Grew to only 3”. Most of the tubers I purchased from Swan Island at the same time grew well. Pretty hard to get a refund though. How do we prove this kind of thing?

Didn't grow
One of the few from Swan Island that not only didn't bloom - it refused to grow. It's still about 4" tall and it's next to another dahlia from Swan Island that grew amazingly well (so it's not light, soil, watering, etc.). It's just a recalcitrant grower.
