EMORY PAUL

Last year I experimented starting a couple early in the greenhouse. The performed like champs! I waited until mid April then transplanted them in the patio where the temps are higher due to flagstone. The bloomed early for the variety (early July) and kept right on blooming through September with vigor and a shock of color. Tall blooms with thick stems. Emory Paul does not disappoint.

It’s hard to relate the value to the price. I love these dahlias so much that I’m crazy. I had a person at the garden center ask me if I was one of those crazy dahlia people? Yes yes I am. Emory Paul did not disappoint. I did retrieve multiple bulbs after the first year when I did not receive any blooms and last year I had my first emery Paul from one of those. It was gigantic and it was beautiful. I can’t place monetary value on that. You have to know when trying to grow dinner plates that it is one of the most difficult flowers to grow and maintain. I start mine indoors very very early the beginning of March zone 6B I’m very excited to see what I get this year.

I bought this 2 years ago. The first year I got great big blooms on strong tall stems. Then I divided the tuber and got 4 or 5 new plants this year! The amount of blooms and gorgeous ruffles takes my breath away every time I step outside.

I got this tuber as part as the Big Bloom Collection. I would like to start this review by saying that this summer has been very hot and I know that a lot of growers are having difficulty this year. I am zone 8b. So keep that in mind regarding this review.

This is the one I was excited for and it did not disappoint! First bloom cut in middle of July. I did not pinch this one and the stem is humongous! I've had 4 large cut flowers so far and more blooms on the way. My flower is a bit deeper pink/purple than the one in the picture. Plant height is about 3.5 feet
