NEON SPLENDOR

I have seven varieties of dahlias in my garden and these are the beautiful beasts of the bunch: really strong main stems, broad leaves and copious orange blossoms. The final flower stalks can be a little weak, so staking may be necessary in the late summer. My Neons are in their third year. My single original tuber is now 7 healthy plants. I dig and divide each fall here in Colorado.

I’ve grown this for two years and the color is stunning and it produces a good amount of blooms. My only issue is that the stems are not strong enough to hold the flowers up and they tend to break or flop down. I will continue to grow her just for her beautiful color in the garden.

Neon splendor hasn’t produced a great bloom for me. It’s almost a water lily shape with green centers. I thought perhaps the first few blooms were just off, but it hasn’t produced one bloom as described here. Healthy and beautiful foliage with lots of flowers, just didn’t produce true to the description.

I have had this one for two years. What a prolific bloomer. The blossoms practically glow from across the yard. They are excellent as a cut flower, the bright color really pops in a bouquet.
