Dahlias are grown from tubers (similar to a bulb, but thin-skinned like a potato). Plant tubers in the springtime, about the same time as you would your vegetable gardens or when the ground is warm enough to work up and play in daily. Plant them in a full sun location (giving them 6-8 hours of direct sunlight) and enjoy blooms all summer long. They will bloom and provide you with color and abundant flowers for cutting and enjoying throughout the summer.
The more you cut a dahlia plant, the more it will bloom. Most cut dahlias will last up to 5 days once cut and treated.

Prolific bloomer. Vibrant color. Will order more!
This is my 2nd year growing Bodacious & it always draws admirers walking trough my garden. My plant grows to about 4' & the blooms are only 9". The petals are large & corkscrew, showing the yellow beautifully underneath. I used to grow Nick Sr. but after I got a replacement tuber, the color was much darker & not as contrasting. It didn't survive winter storage so I switched to Bodacious & am so happy that it looks like Nick Sr. formerly did. I look forward to years of enjoyment from it.
It's big and unique and a lot of fun. Does't look like the pic in the catalog for me, but it's even prettier so I'm not complaining.
Doing great in 2022 in Paso Robles, CA. This flower matures to more red than yellow. It truly morphs.
Beautiful very large mainly red blossoms. They are stunning. Similar to Bohemian Spartacus, but much more red.
