- Waterlily
Dahlias are grown from tubers (similar to a bulb, but thin-skinned like a potato). Plant tubers in the springtime, about the same time as you would your vegetable gardens or when the ground is warm enough to work up and play in daily. Plant them in a full sun location (giving them 6-8 hours of direct sunlight) and enjoy blooms all summer long. They will bloom and provide you with color and abundant flowers for cutting and enjoying throughout the summer.
The more you cut a dahlia plant, the more it will bloom. Most cut dahlias will last up to 5 days once cut and treated.

Similar Bloom Size

The colors and form of the flower and really pretty, prettier than Picasso as the petals weren't as jagged on the tips. The mid-sized, healthy plant pumped out tons of blooms over the season. If I cut down into the plant farther, the stems were long enough for bouquets.
This was one of my first non-dwarf varieties to bloom. Flowers have a great vase life, and the streaks of color make it unique without being too dominant in an arrangement. Growth habit is mannerly and dense. Stems are strong and straight. Really lovely.
This was the first of my tubers to bloom this year, and they’re beautiful. There are so many blooms on this one plant.
Unlike most dahlias, these will open up in a vase and have longer vase life. They’re branch, so I’d often get three on a stem. But they have great, strong straight stems with lovely foliage. Sometimes I even use them as a filler!
