How to Grow

Dahlias are grown from tubers (similar to a bulb, but thin-skinned like a potato). Plant tubers in the springtime, about the same time as you would your vegetable gardens or when the ground is warm enough to work up and play in daily. Plant them in a full sun location (giving them 6-8 hours of direct sunlight) and enjoy blooms all summer long. They will bloom and provide you with color and abundant flowers for cutting and enjoying throughout the summer.
The more you cut a dahlia plant, the more it will bloom. Most cut dahlias will last up to 5 days once cut and treated.

This tuber didn't grow well. It is only about 1 ft. tall at the end of the season. It was between other dahlia tubers that all did very well, so I don't think it was the location or soil. I'm hoping it does better next year.

Maybe next year

Disappointing plant and blooms. Will try again next year.

Didn’t do well or bloom

I was really looking forward to this yellow beauty. Unfortunately, out of the four types I ordered, this was the only one to not do well. It only grew about 2’ tall and didn’t bloom at all. I don’t think it was the soil or environment since the other three types did wonderful!

Gorgeous flower

This dahlia did not disappoint! She created more blooms than expected on a long sturdy stem. The color doesn't fade and the bugs seem to stay away from her. The blooms grow big and full and almost always made it into my bouquets.

Stunning!

Beautiful showy large blooms on a sturdy plant! Since most of my dahlias are small to medium bloom types, this one always draws oohs and aahs from friends visiting my garden.

Beautiful

I am not a fan of yellow, but ordered very late and with few choices. This dahlia is absolutely gorgeous and one of my favorites! It is light yellow and slightly iridescent. It is prolific and a stunner in the garden. It is a keeper!

Wow!

Harvest moonlight was my first dinnerplate dahlia. It produces gorgeous bright yellow flowers about 10". It says it is a late bloomer, but it is always one of the first to bloom in my Minnesota garden. The tubers are hardy and produce numerous eyes, the stalks are even hardier and hold the many blooms beautifully. I share this one with all my friends and I highly recommend it!
