Dahlias are grown from tubers (similar to a bulb, but thin-skinned like a potato). Plant tubers in the springtime, about the same time as you would your vegetable gardens or when the ground is warm enough to work up and play in daily. Plant them in a full sun location (giving them 6-8 hours of direct sunlight) and enjoy blooms all summer long. They will bloom and provide you with color and abundant flowers for cutting and enjoying throughout the summer.
The more you cut a dahlia plant, the more it will bloom. Most cut dahlias will last up to 5 days once cut and treated.

Another eye popper! One of the brightest red and yellow combinations we have seen. 3 1/2" blooms are a bright yellow tipped in a magenta red. Very nice cutflower variety that produces great stems for cutting and arranging. Nice foliage on a 4 1/2' plant.
zone 9b, grow in nursery pots so my yields are always diminished. Really well shaped blooms, mine erred on the side of going bright yellow with a few tiny specks of red, but true "honey dew" blooms are gorgeous!

First year planting this one. Perfection!! I cried - we had 70 mile and hour winds that broke it at the base of the plant. Hoping the tubers are still good. Going to buy another one just to be safe. Cant live without this one!

Second year and a definite favorite. Large, perfect flowers start out yellow and then turn shades of peach. Lovely. Long stems great for cutting and prolific bloomer. Love it.
