Dahlias are grown from tubers (similar to a bulb, but thin-skinned like a potato). Plant tubers in the springtime, about the same time as you would your vegetable gardens or when the ground is warm enough to work up and play in daily. Plant them in a full sun location (giving them 6-8 hours of direct sunlight) and enjoy blooms all summer long. They will bloom and provide you with color and abundant flowers for cutting and enjoying throughout the summer.
The more you cut a dahlia plant, the more it will bloom. Most cut dahlias will last up to 5 days once cut and treated.

Bought 30 tubers this year and a third of them never got a foot high. This beauty is pickling up all the slack!!! She is stunning… long lasting giant blooms. Not a shocking orange… much prettier than pictured.
I grew 50 varieties this year, and this was my favorite! Early, vigorous and the most incredible shimmery orange glow! Everyone wants a tuber of this one!
Already producing brilliant flaming blooms and it's July in Minnesota!
This dahlia is my favorite. It is a true neon orange and the petal shape is my favorite type. Smaller plant, which I appreciate, but it has lots of buds nevertheless. Next year, I am only going to divide it in half and hopefully get two large plants. Simply stunning. I go out and look at it all of the time!
I LOVE this color. It is a stunning almost florescent orange. Lots of blooms too.
